Transfer to Texas Woman's University

Texas Woman's University logoSan Jacinto College South students completing an associate degree in nursing, with or without a prior Texas Registered Nursing (RN) license, or an Associate of Arts, each have a potential transfer path to the bachelor of science degree in nursing at Texas Woman’s University (TWU).

San Jacinto College South students with or without a prior Texas RN license may complete, through an associate degree in nursing, the prerequisites necessary to apply to the B.S. Nursing program at TWU. For these students, consideration for admission to the TWU College of Nursing requires (a) a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA, and (b) a minimum grade of C in microbiology, and anatomy and physiology. Students must apply for admission separately to TWU and the TWU College of Nursing. Students meeting the above requirements who also have an active Texas RN license will be granted automatic admission to the upper level division of the College of Nursing, be allowed to transfer all previously approved lower level courses (up to a maximum of 72 credit hours), and be awarded an additional 25 semester credit hours for six courses.

San Jacinto College South students may also complete, through an Associate of Arts at San Jacinto College, the prerequisites necessary to apply to the B.S. Nursing program at TWU. For these students, consideration for admission to the TWU College of Nursing requires: (a) a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and (b) a minimum grade of C in microbiology, and anatomy and physiology. Students must apply for admission separately to TWU and the TWU College of Nursing. Acceptance to the university does not guarantee or equate to automatic admission to the upper division of the College of Nursing; acceptance to the nursing program is on a competitive, space-available basis. If admitted to the TWU B.S. Nursing program, all previously approved lower level courses will transfer to TWU and count fully toward the B.S. degree (up to a maximum of 72 credit hours). San Jacinto College students transferring to TWU prior to graduation may finish the requirements for and earn an associate’s degree in nursing to be awarded by San Jacinto College.
